TRANSPORT AND ROAD SAFETY

We will support the development and production of electric vehicles and extend the electrification of the railways.

HS2 will be cancelled.

Traffic free cycleways will be built alongside main roads and in urban areas. A priority will be to create networks of completely traffic free routes to schools.

All speed cameras will be switched on and all speed limits will be enforced in urban areas, outside urban areas and on motorways. We will make sure that many more messages about the dangers of speeding will be broadcast and will aim to change the whole culture of driving at speed.

We will restrict the speed limit on roundabouts to 10mph and consider whether to make stopping at mini-roundabouts obligatory.

We will generally aim to promote consideration of others when driving.

We will encourage the use of high-vis clothing when out at night.
